Birmingham

Birmingham is the second largest city in Britain. It lives 1,1 million people in Birmingham, but if you count the areas around Birmingham as well; then there lives 3,6 millions people in Birmingham. Birmingham lays in the West Midlands of England, and therefore does it not exist any oceans close to the town, but however there is lakes around Birmingham. It lives people from many different ethical groups in Birmingham, and the city has a big cultural history.

Birmingham and the area around were inhabited in Roman times, and it was several Roman roads in and around the area. It was first and foremost a military garrison. In the 1000s the town was mentioned in the book "Domesday Book", but then as a small village. Later in the 1200s, Birmingham became known for their large market. And in the 1700s the city had become a large city, with a big influence on the English market. In the early 19th century Birmingham became the center in the British Channel network, and later in the railway network. However during the WW2 Birmingham was bombed and destroyed, and everything had to be built up once again.
